Green Lantern Stables’ GOTTA HAVE HER (Royal Academy) continued her winning
ways on Saturday when rallying up the rail in the $100,000

Senator Ken Maddy H. (G3)
to capture the about 6 1/2-furlong test by two
lengths. Expertly ridden by Tyler Baze and trained by Jenine Sahadi, the bay
mare finished up in 1:12 on Santa Anita’s firm downhill turf, returning $5,
$3.40 and $2.60 as the 3-2 favorite.

Gotta Have Her was squeezed at the start, forcing Baze to steady the
five-year-old and take her back into a stalking position in midpack. That suited
the mare just fine, as Pasar Silbano (Ire) (Elnadim) was winging it on the front
end through fractions of :21 4/5 and :43 4/5. Exiting the turn, Gotta Have Her,
who had steadily made up ground on the rail, swung into action. Bursting through
on the inside, she took over through six furlongs in 1:09 and drove clear to
record her fourth stakes score.

Pasar Silbano held well for second, 1 1/2 lengths in front of Tuscan Evening
(Ire) (Oasis Dream [GB]), and paid $17.60 and $8.60 at 21-1. Tuscan Evening
tracked the pacesetter all the way around the track, yielding $3 at 7-2. The
exotics totaled $34.90 (exacta), $123.50 (trifecta) and $731.50 (2-1-5-3
superfecta). Royal Taat (NZ) (Faltaat), Gadget Queen (Flying With Eagles), Reba
is Tops (He’s Tops), Porto Marmay (Ire) (Choisir), Queen ofthe Catsle (Tale of
the Cat) and Mohegan Sky (Straight Man) completed the order of finish after
Annihilation (Northern Afleet) and Flashover (Unusual Heat) were withdrawn.

Gotta Have Her now sports a mark of 23-8-6-3, $690,608. The bay ran down
Lethal Heat (Unusual Heat) in the Palomar H. (G2) prior to this race, and that
runner returned last out to be second to undefeated champion Zenyatta (Street
Cry [Ire]) in the Lady’s Secret S. (G1). Successful in the Harold C. Ramser Sr.
H. as a sophomore, Gotta Have Her missed by a mere half-length in last year’s
Palomar and the Tuzla H. (G3) while making her 2009 bow. She captured the Las
Cienegas H. (G3) in mid-April, then returned off a two-month break to place in
the Redondo Beach S., Royal Heroine Mile S. (G2) and John C. Mabee S. (G1). The
mare has also placed in the Dahlia H. (G2), Providencia S. (G3) and China Doll
S. during her career.

Bred by Nursery Place and Robert T. Manfuso in Kentucky, Gotta Have Her went
to her current owners for $300,000 as a Keeneland September yearling. She is out
of the unraced Rahy mare Winnowing, making her a half-sister to the multiple
stakes-placed Haka Girl (War Chant) and a weanling filly by Hard Spun. Winnowing
is herself a half-sister to Grade 2 heroine Lady Blessington (Fr) (Baillamont),
French Group 3 victor Lowell (General Holme) and multiple stakes queen Red Cat
(Storm Cat).

This is the same family as 1964 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth S. hero
Nasram (*Nasrullah) and 1962 Irish Derby winner Tambourine (*Princequillo).
