LE GRAND CRU (Dynaformer) benefited from the Kelso H. (G3) coming off the
turf last time, recording a 1 1/2-length, front-running decision, and he’s found
another favorable spot in Saturday’s Bold Ruler H. (G3). The Allen Jerkens colt
earned good BRIS numbers last time and is favorably drawn on the far outside in
this six-horse field. He figures to sit a perfect trip on or very close to the
lead before being asked for run by jockey Jose Lezcano.

GOLD TRIPPI (Trippi) likes the main track at Aqueduct (3-2-0-0) and rates
serious consideration for the win. Trained by Stanley Hough, the five-year-old
gelding posted a commendable win against tougher rivals in the James Marvin S.
at Saratoga four starts back, and he returns to his favorite oval off a solid
runner-up finish in an allowance/optional claiming event at Belmont. He’ll look
to rally from just off the pace under regular rider Cornelio Velazquez.

CHEROKEE COUNTRY (Yonaguska) will be tested for class, but we like his
current form and will use him on the bottom of the top three. The Philadelphia
Park
shipper has notched BRIS Speed ratings of 105 and 107 in his last two starts,
and jockey Abel Mariano will be in to guide the Guadalupe Preciado trainee. The
five-year-old looks like a forward factor from the start.

PAST THE POINT (Indian Charlie) owns a respectable 3-2-0-1 mark at seven
panels, but the five-year-old exits a couple of poor efforts and has never run
at Aqueduct. The Grade 1 runner-up does appear to be training well, recording a
recent bullet work at five furlongs, but we can’t get too excited about the
stalker.

SING BABY SING (Unbridled’s Song) offered a decent run for fourth as the
defending champion in the
Phoenix S. (G3) at Keeneland last time, but the six-year-old will be making his
first start in New York and is winless in two starts this season. He doesn’t
look sharp enough to challenge. LUCKY ISLAND (Arg) (Lucky Roberto) won this race
at Belmont last year, but the five-year-old has been off form in two starts this
season and can’t be recommended.
