D’ Funnybone blows out quarter-mile in :24 2/5
At Santa Anita on Saturday, Futurity S. (G2) and Saratoga
Special S. (G2) romper D’ FUNNYBONE (D’wildcat) blew out two Pro-Ride furlongs
in :24 2/5 just hours before his tilt at the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1),
according to the Blood-Horse.
The Rick Dutrow pupil has been installed as the 5-2 second
choice on the morning line for the 1 1/16-mile Juvenile, which will mark his
two-turn and synthetic debut.
D’ Funnybone, who was runner-up to Calder supremo Jackson Bend
(Hear No Evil) in the Frank Gomez Memorial S in July, is two-for-two since
joining Dutrow. A 10 1/2-length hero of the Saratoga Special in his first start
for his new barn, the chestnut is coming off a 4 3/4-length victory in the
Futurity.
