KODIAK KOWBOY (Posse) and ALLICANSAYIS WOW (Street Cry [Ire]) are the latest
defections from Breeders’ Cup weekend as both were removed from consideration by
their respective connections on Monday. Kodiak Kowboy had been entered in the
Sprint (G1) while Allicansayis Wow was headed to the Filly & Mare Sprint (G1).

Kodiak Kowboy, who captured the Vosburgh S. (G1) last time, was announced as
a non-starter following a half-mile work in :52 2/5 over Santa Anita’s Pro-Ride
Monday morning. The Steve Asmussen-trained four-year-old was found to have mucus
in his lungs in a post-work scope, Vinery general manager Tom Ludt told Daily
Racing Form
. Vinery owns the colt in partnership with Fox Hill Farm.

“We were concerned something might not be right after he breezed so slowly
this morning,” said Ludt, who added that Kodiak Kowboy has been treated and
might make the November 28 Cigar Mile (G1) at Aqueduct.

Allicansayis Wow was discovered to have a torn suspensory following a
half-mile work on Sunday. Trainer Patrick Biancone said the filly “carried some
heat” in her left front leg Monday morning.

Second in the Del Mar Mile (G2) and third in the Milady H. (G2) this season,
the four-year-old is scheduled to be sold at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale in
Lexington, Kentucky, on November 10.

Another defection announced late Sunday was that of DAVE IN DIXIE (Dixie
Union), who was pre-entered in the Juvenile (G1). A debut winner at Del Mar, the
colt finished sixth in the Norfolk S. (G1) in his last start.

“I’m going to wait for winter and let him mature a little bit,” trainer John
Sadler said. “He just wasn’t quite where I wanted him to be. It would have been
asking a lot for his third start.
