Just six freshman males will contest Saturday’s $200,000 Remsen S. (G2) at
Aqueduct. BUDDY’S SAINT (Saint Liam) was disqualified from a maiden win at first
asking prior to running the field in the Nashua S. (G2) off their feet, scoring
by 12 widening lengths. The bay Kentucky-bred, who is conditioned by Bruce
Levine, is ratable and should get a dream trip tracking another to the top of
the lane. Jose Lezcano will pilot the top prospect, who is our selection at
short odds.

Champagne S. (G1) hero HOMEBOYKRIS (Roman Ruler) was fetched for a bargain
$11,000 at OBS this spring and has earned his money back and then some in a
short time. Purchased privately following a fine maiden score, the Maryland-bred
gelding hinted that he may want to run this nine-furlong distance when closing steadily in his
latest to get up over a fine field, and he’ll be tough to deal with in here with
a similar effort. Edgar Prado will be in the saddle.

CITRUS KID (Lemon Drop Kid) is the only other horse in the race we can make a
case for on the win end outside of the top pair, so we’ll include the colt in
our multi-race tickets. Transferred to John Terranova II for his fourth career
event, the recent Dover S. romper has run two big ones since moving to the main
oval and could be any type. We have no idea what level of competition he
defeated in Delaware, but his improving BRIS Speed numbers are an encouraging
sign. Rajiv Maragh has the call.

GRAND RAPPORT (Grand Reward) took a maiden claiming race at first asking when
it was washed off the turf, and while he faced a pair of good ones in the
subsequent Futurity S. (G2), he still looks a cut below these at this juncture.

PEPPI KNOWS (Stephen Got Even) has never lost on the dirt but is stepping way
up the class ladder for Pennsylvania-based trainer Samuel Keyrouze. The fleet
bay will almost surely go to the front and is bred to get some ground, but the
class rise, combined with the likelihood of some early pressure, might be too
much.

Maiden FUDGE TRUFFLE (Candy Ride [Arg]) looks in deep from the rail.
