Arqana offers up 54 lots for Arc sale

Last updated: 10/1/10 7:06 PM

Arqana hosts its Arc sale at Saint-Cloud on Saturday following racing across Paris
at Longchamp. The sale’s reputation as a source of top-class racehorses is
firmly established, with an honor roll that includes graduates such as Urban Sea, Megahertz (GB), Elmhurst, Aube Indienne
(Fr) and Elusive Wave (Elusive City), who contests Saturday’s Prix Daniel Wildenstein
(Fr-G2). Eclair de Lune (Ger) (Marchand de Sable), a €250,000
purchase at last year’s renewal, has continued the trend and followed in those
luminaries’ hoofprints this semester by garnering the Beverley D S. (G1) at
Arlington in August.

In keeping with tradition, the 54-lot catalog features
offerings from His Highness The Aga Khan and the Wertheimer brothers, as well as
representatives from the stables of trainers Elie Lellouche, Jean-Claude Rouget,
Alain de Royer-Dupre, Carlos Laffon-Parias, Andreas Wohler and Mario Hofer.

Among the horses cataloged are Joel Boisnard’s Lot No. 7, MAMBIA (Aldebaran),
who has won four of her six starts, including the Prix du Calvados (Fr-G3), and
is entered in Sunday’s
Prix Marcel Boussac (Fr-G1); and Italian One Thousand Guineas (Ity-G3) heroine
EVADING TEMPETE (Dubai Destination), who will enter the ring as Lot 29 from the Francois Rohaut
consignment.

Two of His Highness The Aga Khan’s Studs lots, 41 and 44, could draw some
attention. The former, Group 3 winner RAYENI (Indian Ridge), ran second in last
year’s Irish Two Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) and was runner-up in the Gladness S.
(Ire-G3) in April. RAJSAMAN (Linamix), the last of the three Aga Khan lots due
to sell, is exiting a neck third in the Prix du
Prince d’Orange (Fr-G3) at Longchamp two weeks ago. He captured the Prix de
Fontainebleau (Fr-G3) earlier this year.

Prospective international buyers will note that of the 43 three-year-olds and
older on offer, 37 boast an official rating of 90 and above, which is the
minimum level required to participate in the Hong Kong International races and
at the Dubai Carnival.
