Hopeful S. (G1) winner BOYS AT TOSCONOVA (Officer) and multiple Grade 2 vixen AMEN HALLELUJAH
(Montbrook) each worked five furlongs on Friday in advance of upcoming starts in
January. The Richard Dutrow-trained duo took to the fast main track at
Gulfstream Park, the same venue over which they’ll make their 2011 debuts.

Boys at Tosconova, who is expected to begin his march to the first Saturday
in May in the $400,000 Holy Bull S. (G3) on January 30, clocked five-eighths in
1:00 3/5 beneath exercise rider Michelle Nevin in his first official workout of
the year.

“The clockers told me they got him working five furlong in a minute,” Dutrow
said. “That’s just what we wanted from him. I didn’t see Michelle asking him at
all. I would say he’s right where we want him heading into his next race. We’re
very happy with him.”

Following a 12-length romp against maiden rivals at Belmont Park on July 2,
the dark bay captured the Hopeful S. (G1) in his stakes bow and then ran second
to the undefeated Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1)
at Churchill Downs.

“Uncle Mo isn’t running in the Holy Bull,” Dutrow said regarding his decision
to run Boys at Tosconova at a one-turn mile. “Our horse is a Grade 1 winner at a
one-turn seven furlongs so this shouldn’t be a problem for him.”

Also working for Dutrow Friday morning was Amen Hallelujah, who captured the
Davona Dale S. (G2) over the track during her 2010 exploits. The newly turned
four-year-old lass zipped in a bullet :59 4/5 in advance of the $500,000
Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint on January 29.

“(Julien) Leparoux was up on her, and I thought she went very well also,”
Dutrow said of the move.

Amen Hallelujah hasn’t raced since finishing a half-length second in Belmont
Park’s Acorn S. (G1) on June 5, but returned to the worktab in mid-November.

“She’s coming off a bit of a layoff, but she’s good,” Dutrow admitted.
