Augustin Stable’s DYNAMIC HOLIDAY (Harlan’s Holiday) had to make her
way through a full field in Saturday’s $105,000

Florida Oaks
at Tampa Bay Downs, which was being run on turf for the
first time in the race’s 28 year history, but veteran reinsman Ramon
Dominguez never flinched as the bay lass split horses en route to a 1
3/4-length victory. The Graham Motion trainee was forced to angle out in
the lane and easily powered home to stop the clock in 1:45 2/5 for 1
1/16 miles on the good turf. In the process, she began Dominguez’s sweep
of the three stakes on Festival Preview Day.

Dynamic Holiday paid $8, $4.20 and $3.20 at 3-1 for the win, which
was her third straight victory after breaking her maiden at Keeneland in
October and taking the Tropical Park Oaks on New Year’s Day. Making her
fourth turf start from six career races here, the bay lass improved her
overall line to 6-3-2-0 and has now earned $142,575 in lifetime
earnings.

“I was a little worried about it (the good turf) to be honest, just
because she ran (seventh over a good turf course) at Belmont and it was
quite soft that day, so it’s varying degrees of good,” Motion said. “But
the filly’s done great, she’s matured since then and I think she’s
getting better and better.”

Holidaysatthefarm (Smarty Jones) rallied five wide in the stretch,
but just could not catch Dynamic Holiday before the wire came. The near
6-1 shot finished a length in front of 5-2 favorite Niji’s Grand Girl
(Candy Ride [Arg]), who in turn was a head up on early pacesetter Her
Smile (Include) at the wire.

Victoryat Last (Victory Gallop), Ipswich Bay (Rockport Harbor),
Mistress Gallop (Victory Gallop), Whodoesthat (Giacomo), Michelle’s Trip
(Trippi), Glore Race (North Light [Ire]), Annabel Lee (J Town) and Fancy
Point (Point Given) followed the top four under the wire.

Motion has
no immediate plans for Dynamic Holiday’s next race, but is hopeful she’ll
continue to progress.

“I haven’t really though about it, to be honest,” he said. “Don’t want to get
too far ahead of ourselves, but I think she’s going to be a pretty good filly.
(The race) was very impressive. (Dominguez) rode her at Belmont, during her only
poor race, and this is the kind of filly he thought she was when he first sat on
her. And she beat a decent field today.”

Bred in Pennsylvania by George Strawbridge Jr., Dynamic Holiday is a
half-sister to last year’s Tropical Park Derby (G3) hero Cat Park (Tale of the
Cat). The pair are out of stakes winner Dynamic Cat (Dynaformer), who has since
produced a juvenile filly named Appealing Cat (Successful Appeal) and an unnamed
yearling full sister to the Florida Oaks winner.

Dynamic Holiday’s third dam is Creaking Board (GB) (Night Shift), winner of
the 1992 Hollywood Starlet S. (G1) and Miesque S. after being sent to the United
States from France, where she placed in the Prix Robert Papin (Fr-G2) and Prix
la Fleche. Creaking Board is a full sister to German highweight Dyhim Diamond
(Ire) and German One Thousand Guineas (Ger-G2) heroine Dakhla Oasis, and would
go on in the breeding shed to foal Grade 3 winner Crowd Pleaser (A.P. Indy).
