ESPN’s Breeders’ Cup coverage nominated for Emmy

ESPN’s coverage of the 2010 Breeders’ Cup World Championships Classic from
Churchill Downs is one of six nominees for a Sports Emmy Award in the live
sports special category.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships was held November 5-6 at Churchill
Downs. The event culminated with undefeated mare Zenyatta’s stunning upset to
Blame in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in front of 72,739 fans at the
Louisville, Kentucky, track.

This is the second year in a row that ESPN’s coverage of the Breeders’ Cup
has been nominated in the category. The Breeders’ Cup is the only horse
racing-related event to receive a nomination.

The 32nd Annual Sports Emmy Awards will be held on May 2 at the Frederick P.
Rose Hall Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York City.

Other nominees for outstanding live sports special include 2010 FIFA World
Cup, ABC: Final Match – Spain vs Netherlands; 2010 Tour de France, Versus; Golf
on CBS: The Masters; NBA Finals on ABC; and The Ryder Cup, NBC/USA.
