For the second day in a row Tuesday, Fastnet Rock was responsible for the top
price at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, with a colt and a filly by
the Coolmore stallion selling for matching A$260,000 (US$264,656) price tags. G
W Racing Bloodostck paid that amount to secure a bay colt by the 10-year-old
stallion. The yearling (Hip 284), consigned by Supreme Thoroughbreds, is out of
group-placed Snow Hero (True Hero).
Later in the day, Redgum Racing signed the ticket at A$260,000 for a daughter
of Fastnet Rock out of the stakes-winning Thousand Veils (Zabeel). The yearling
(Hip 324) was consigned by Grange Thoroughbreds. During Wednesday’s second
session of the sale, Fastnet Rock accounted for three of the seven lots to top
the A$200,000 mark.
For the day, 129 yearlings sold for A$9,907,000 and an average of A$76,798.
“As predicted, today’s selling session was considerably stronger than the
first day, with some excellent results for vendors,” Inglis Director Peter
Heagney said. “The better-quality individuals continued to sell well and there
was generally more strength in the overall market. We expect that to continue
tomorrow as we again have some of our best-credentialed yearlings in that
session.”
The sale runs through Thursday.
