ARIENZA – Robert and Lawana Low’s Fantasy (G2)
runner-up Arienza galloped 1 1/2 miles under exercise rider Eva
Jansson before the morning renovation break when the track was labeled as
“good.”
Trainer Dan Peitz plans to work Arienza five furlongs
after the break Friday morning.
BOUQUET BOOTH/STREET STORM – Right Time Racing’s
Street Storm worked five furlongs in 1:03 under jockey Robby Albarado
after the renovation break over a track labeled as “fast.”
Fractions for the
move, which was the 20th fastest of 23 at the distance, were :13.40, :26, :38.20, :50.80 and out six
furlongs in 1:17.
“It was just a
maintenance work for her,” trainer Steve Margolis said. “She is not a
good work horse when she is by herself. She prefers turf and will probably go in
the (May 6) Edgewood.”
Bouquet Booth,
also owned by Right Time Racing, galloped 1 1/2 miles Jose
Castanon after the renovation break and is scheduled to work five furlongs
Friday morning with Albarado up.
DAISY DEVINE – James Miller’s
Daisy Devine galloped 1 1/4 miles under Larry Melancon after the renovation break in her
first trip back to the track since working five furlongs in :59.60 on Tuesday.
Trained by
Andrew McKeever, Daisy Devine will be ridden in the Oaks by James Graham.
DELIGHTFUL MARY – John Oxley’s
Delightful Mary galloped 1 1/2 miles before the renovation break under exercise rider
Melanie Giddings.
The Mark Casse-trained
filly is scheduled to work Friday morning after the renovation break with jockey
Shaun Bridgmohan up.
HER SMILE/R HEAT LIGHTNING – The E. Paul Robsham
Stables’ R Heat Lightning, probable favorite for Kentucky Oaks 137, galloped
1 1/2 miles after the renovation break under exercise rider Hector
Ramos.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, R Heat Lightning will be
ridden in the Oaks by John Velazquez.
Pletcher’s second Oaks probable is Her Smile, recently
acquired by Bobby Flay and scheduled to arrive at Churchill Downs on
Thursday afternoon. No rider has been confirmed on Her Smile, who is scheduled
to go to the track Friday morning.
HOLY HEAVENS – K.K. and Vilasini Jayaraman’s Holy Heavens returned to the track for the first time since working
five furlongs on Tuesday in 1:03.60 to gallop a 1 3/4 miles under
exercise rider Manuel Huerta Castro.
Trained by
Benard Chatters, Holy Heavens will be ridden in the Oaks by Kent
Desormeaux.
JOYFUL VICTORY – Fox Hill Farms’
Joyful Victory galloped
1 1/2 miles under trainer Larry Jones after the renovation break.
Runaway winner of the Honeybee (G3) and Fantasy (G2) in
her past two starts, Joyful Victory is scheduled to work Sunday. Mike Smith has the Oaks riding assignment.
KATHMANBLU – Five D Thoroughbreds and Wind
River Stables’ Kathmanblu galloped after the renovation break under exercise rider
Will Aldana.
The Ken McPeek
trainee is scheduled to work Saturday. Julien Leparoux has the Oaks
mount.
LILACS AND LACE – James Covello, Judy Hicks and
Kathryn Nikkel’s Lilacs and Lace galloped 1 1/4 miles under exercise rider Eliel DeJesus after the renovation break.
Reynaldo Abreu, assistant to trainer John Terranova,
said Lilacs and Lace work would on Saturday. Javier Castellano has the
Oaks mount.
PLUM PRETTY – Peachtree Stable’s Plum Pretty
jogged a mile under exercise rider Dana Barnes as the daughter of
Medaglia d’Oro visited the track for the first time since a seven-furlong work
at Churchill Downs on Tuesday.
Trainer Bob
Baffert’s filly is coming off a 25-length victory in the $200,000 Sunland
Oaks. Martin Garcia
has the riding assignment on Plum Pretty in the Kentucky Oaks.
ST. JOHN’S RIVER – Dede McGehee’s
St. John’s River was the first horse on the track after the renovation break from the “Lukas Gap”
and wasted little time going about the business of the morning of working five
furlongs in 1:00.80 under jockey Rosie Napravnik.
Working over a track labeled as “fast,” St. John’s River
clicked off fractions of :12.40, :24.60, :36.40, :48.40 and galloped out six
furlongs in 1:15.40. The move was the second fastest of 23 at the distance.
“I thought it went OK,” trainer Andy Leggio said. “She
was in hand and it was a nice work. She will get two days off and go back to the
track Sunday and gallop up to the Oaks and put the finishing touches on.”
Runner-up in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) in her most recent
start, St. John’s River has worked three times in Kentucky since the March 26
race in New Orleans. Two of the works came at Keeneland on Polytrack: 1:00.80 on
April 13 and 1:00.40 on April 20.
“Time-wise, it was about the same, but she seemed to handle
this track better,” Leggio said. “I think she is about at her peak and she just
needs more distance. I hope this (the 1 1/8-mile Oaks) is it.”
SUAVE VOIR FAIRE – Fleur De Lis Racing’s
Suave Voir
Faire jogged a mile and then galloped 1 1/8 miles under exercise
rider Frederick Carmouche at the Highpointe Training Center.
“She will work in the morning on the main track at Highpointe
and it should be a good track,” trainer Speedy Smithwick said. “She is
going to go five-eighths and I will have her hook up with a companion the last
three-eighths.”
Miguel Mena has the riding assignment on Suave Voir Faire, who will come to
Churchill Downs on Tuesday.
SUMMER SOIREE –
Team Valor International’s
Summer Soiree
is scheduled to arrive at Churchill Downs from Keeneland on Thursday afternoon.
Summer Soiree will stabled in Barn 22 and is scheduled to
work Saturday or Sunday for trainer Graham Motion.
