Multiple Grade 2-winning multimillionaire SUN KING (Charismatic) was
represented by his first winner at stud on May 22 when the two-year-old colt
Legalis won at Premio Meltrasio racetrack in Milan, Italy.

Out of the stakes-producing Time for a Change mare Eh La Bas Chere, Legalis
proved best in six-furlong contest on turf. He had run second in his debut in
Rome only seven days prior. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Fair Winds Farm.

Sun King was an eight-time Grade 1 performer and earner of more than $2.2
million. His biggest career wins came in the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) and Tampa
Bay Derby (G3) at three and Commonwealth Breeders’ Cup (G2) at four. Sun King
placed in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), Champagne (G1), Met Mile (G1),
Haskell Invitational (G1) and Woodward (G1) for owner Tracy Farmer and trainer
Nick Zito.

Out of the Clever Trick mare Clever But Costly, Sun King stands at John
Phillips’ Darby Dan Farm in Lexington for a fee of $10,000 live foal.
