Wednesday’s session star was born April 14 in Kentucky and counts as a full
sister Hightap, who captured the 2009 Iowa Oaks (G3) and Dogwood S. while
placing in the Monmouth Oaks (G3). His dam is a half-sibling to
Breeders’ S. hero Lodge Hill (Cozzene), who ran third in the 2001 Canadian
International (Can-G1). The colt’s third dam is dual stakes victress Drama
School (Northern Dancer), who is responsible for producing Canadian Horse of the
Year and sire Norcliffe (Buckpasser).
“He’s by Tapit, he has a sibling with the same breeding that is a stakes
winner, his conformation was excellent, he scoped perfectly and is vet
approved,” Jon Kelly said in describing what he liked about the yearling.
Kelly reported that the colt will remain in Kentucky to be broken, and later
sent to one of their trainers in either California or Florida.
John Ferguson was busy Wednesday on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,

Getaway Girl is herself a half-sibling to 2004 Horse of the Year and champion
older horse Ghostzapper (Awesome Again), who banked nearly $3.5 million in

Woodward S. (G1) and Vosburgh S. (G1) before entering stud duty. The duo is out
of Broodmare of the Year Baby Zip (Relaunch), who also produced Grade 1-winning
sire City Zip (Carson City). Other notables in this female family include 1992
Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Lil E. Tee (At the Threshold).
Rounding out the three top buys on Wednesday was Hip 770, a dark bay colt by
Tiznow who went to Doug Cauthen, agent, for $550,000. Consigned by Taylor Made
Sales Agency, agent, the April 24-born yearling is out of multiple Grade
2-placed Ex Caelis (Fusaichi Pegasus) and counts as his third dam stakes winner
Fantastic Girl (Riva Ridge).
That mare would foal Grade 1 queen Fantastic Look (Green Dancer), herself the
dam of Grade 1 veteran Designed for Luck (Rahy), and stakes heroine Fantastic
Ways (Secretariat), who produced Grade 3 scorers Worldly Ways (GB)
(Generous [Ire]), Miss Fortunate (Deputy Minister) and Trial by Jury (Deputy
Minister). This family also includes Group 1-winning sire Ace of Aces (*Vaguely
Noble).
Book 2 of the 13-day sale continues Thursday, beginning at 11 a.m. (EDT). The
sale runs through September 24, with the lone dark day being Friday.
