DAECALLHERDASTREAK, a daughter of City Zip, brought a final bid of $78,000
from Bill Cunningham on Tuesday at the Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearling sale
at Lone Star Park. Consigned by Pauls Mill Bloodstock, agent for Judice Farms,
the March 5-foaled Louisiana-bred toured the ring as Hip No. 210.
The sale-topper was produced by the multiple stakes-winning Streak of Malagra
(Malagra), making her a half-sister to stakes winners Streak of Smoke (Smoke
Glacken) and Mr. King Rex (Pentelicus).
Selling to Ed Wright for $63,000 was a Lemon Drop Kid son of the multiple
stakes-placed Lucy Valentine (Langfuhr), a half-sister to the Grade 2-placed
multiple stakes winner Zada Belle (Indian Charlie). Singer Ranch (Craig B.
Singer) consigned the February 19 colt, who sported Hip 106.
At the sale’s conclusion, 225 yearlings had sold for $2,391,200, virtually
level from last year’s gross of $2,379,400 when 214 head sold. The average
declined 4.4 percent, from $11,119 to $10,628, while the median was unchanged at
$5,000.
Following the yearling sale, Phase III of the Heiligbrodt Racing Stable
Dispersal was conducted. Forty-two horses were sold for $299,500, for an average
of $7,131 and a median of $4,600.
