Victory tastes ‘Yummier’ With Butter

Yummy With Butter is going

Bruno Schickedanz’s YUMMY WITH BUTTER (Silvador) gained his second
consecutive graded stakes victory in the $100,000
Cliff Hanger S. (G3)
at Monmouth Park on Sunday. Sent off at 9-5, the favorite returned $5.80,
$3.40 and $2.10.

The Yvon Belsoeur trainee settled well off the pace along the inside, as
Sayif (Ire) (Kheleyf) led the field in splits of :22 3/5, :45 1/5 and 1:08 3/5
over the firm turf. It was at the quarter-pole that Yummy With Butter, guided by
Paco Lopez, split Sayif and Cherokee Lord (Sir Cherokee) to grab command of the
lead. He went on to win by an easy 3 1/4 lengths in a final time of 1:32 3/5.

Cherokee Lord held on for second and second-choice Sleepless Knight (War
Chant) finished third. Mata Keranjang (More Than Ready), Sayif and Get Serious
(City Zip) rounded out the order of finish in the one-mile contest. J Isle and
Right One were scratched.

Yummy With Butter seems to be aging well, as the seven-year-old scored in the
July 31 Oceanport S. (G3) in his last outing. Prior to that he had won only one
stakes race, which was the 2009 Overskate S. at Woodbine, but has placed in nine
black-type outings during his lifetime. With earnings now of $576,824, Yummy With Butter is
32-7-7-8.

“He’s really at the top of his game right now,” Belsoeur said. “There was
plenty of speed in the race and we got an inside trip. Sometimes things don’t
work out with that kind of a trip, but today things opened up perfectly.”

“He broke well and got us in perfect position,” Lopez said. “He was able to
relax early on. I waited to ask him and as soon as I did he just kicked home.
He did it so easily today.”

Bred in Ontario by Richard Lister, Yummy With Butter was produced by the
stakes-placed Sophisticatedbagel (Kris S.), who has also produced the unraced
three-year-old colt Regal Cornerstone and the unraced juvenile filly Classic
Bagel, both by Regal Flight. Yummy With Butter hails from the family of Grade 3
winner Dance Director (Quick Dance).
