D’nied Permission upsets Affirmed; Putyourdreamsaway takes

D’nied Permission was sent off the 21-1 third longest shot on the board in
Saturday’s $125,000

Affirmed division of the Florida Stallion Stakes at Calder, but that didn’t
stop the D’wildcat gelding from gutting out a neck victory over fellow 25-1
longshot Joshua’s Comprise on the wire of the seven-furlong contest.

Jockey Luis Saez reserved D’nied Permission in midpack of the seven-strong
field as Dixie High posted fractions of :22 and :45 while pressed by unbeaten
2-5 favorite Two T’s at Two B. That one eagerly took over in the stretch,
opening up by 3 1/2 lengths, but the early pace had taken its toll on the bay
colt, who had previously scored in the Dr. Fager division of the series.

D’nied Permission and Joshua’s Comprise came barreling down the lane,
swamping the tiring Two T’s at Two B as they dueled all the way to the wire. In
the end, D’nied Permission would not be denied the win, completing seven-eighths
on the sloppy, sealed main track in 1:26 for trainer Joseph Calascibetta and
paying $45.20, $16.40 and $4.80 to his backers.

Two T’s at Two B was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third while L’s Ticket to
Ride finished out the top four. Billos Boy, Dixie High and G. T. Tabu completed
the order under the wire.

D’nied Permission broke his maiden at Calder in his second try on July 21,
and was a well-beaten second in an August 11 allowance to Sr. Quisqueyano, who
earlier on Saturday scored a 13 3/4-length victory in the Seacliff Stakes on
Calder’s Juvenile Showcase program.

Campaigned by F. Muro, W. Cheekes, L. Ferrentino and Calascibetta Racing
Stable Inc., D’nied Permission had already earned back his $18,000 purchase
price as an OBS August yearling prior to the Affirmed. The Florida-bred chestnut
has now banked $96,190 and shows a 4-2-2-0 career mark.

D’nied Permission is out of the winning Maudlin mare Sanctioned, who is a
half-sister to In Reality winner and Affirmed second His Honor. Sanctioned has
also produced Grade 3-placed stakes victress Tiger Belle.

Putyourdreamsaway easily scored her first stakes win in the Susan’s Girl

Putyourdreamsaway ran second to Candy Coded Kisses in the Desert Vixen
division of the Florida Stallion Stakes for fillies, but turned the tables on
that rival in the $125,000

Susan’s Girl division on Saturday. With Juan Leyva up, the Bill
Kaplan-conditioned chestnut was 7 1/2 lengths clear of Candy Coded Kisses on the
wire while stopping the clock in 1:26 2/5.

The race was marred by the breakdown of Anita’s Comprise rounding the turn.
The bay filly was running in between rivals when she suddenly fell, sending
apprentice
jockey Jonathan Gonzales to the track. Medical and
track personnel responded immediately and Gonzales, who was conscious and
responsive but complaining of pain in his left shoulder, was taken to
nearby Memorial Regional for further observation.

Putyourdreamsaway was bothered by Heiressofthecrown at the start of the race,
but quickly recovered to move up and press the pace set by 3-5 favorite Jewel in
the Sky. After fractions of :22 2/5 and :45 4/5, Jewel in the Sky began backing
up, leaving the way clear for Putyourdreamsaway to take command. The Put It Back
juvenile lass found Candy Coded Kisses nipping at her heels, but easily opened
up in the stretch to earn her first stakes win. The 9-2 shot returned $11, $5
and $3.40.

Candy Coded Kisses has a length to spare on Capriccio Blue on the wire, while
Jewel in the Sky was another 2 1/2 lengths back in fourth. The field was
completed by Nasty Cat, Iwillneversaynever and Heiressofthecrown.

Putyourdreamsaway has sported the silks of Herbert and Ione Elkins ever since
she was purchased by Kaplan on their behalf for $20,000 earlier this year as an
OBS April two-year-old in training. She has more than earned that back, now
boasting $115,975 in prize money to go along with her 3-2-1-0 career mark, which
also includes a 5 1/4-length debut maiden score on July 15.

Putyourdreamsaway is the first registered foal out of the stakes-placed City
Place mare Beauty for Ashes, who is a half-sister to this year’s Cool Frenchy
Stakes winner Flightofalifetime. This is the same female family as Group 1 hero
Northern Secret and Grade 2 victor Secret Prince.

Sr. Quisqueyano romped in the Seacliff to remain perfect in three starts

The $73,800
Seacliff Stakes opened the stakes action at Calder on Saturday, and Rosa Taveras’ Sr. Quisqueyano
tracked just behind the early pace set by Mayberry Madness before drawing even
with that rival rounding the turn. The Luis Olivares trainee grabbed command entering the
lane under jockey Jozbin Santana and easily pulled away to be 13 3/4 lengths clear
of C D Gold on the wire of the one-mile contest.

Sr. Quisqueyano was the 3-5 star attraction in the Seacliff off an allowance score at the
Florida venue on August 11. The bay son of Exclusive Quality romped by 12 1/4
lengths in that six-furlong, sloppy track test following a debut maiden victory
where he scored by 2 3/4 lengths on April 22. He is now three-for-three in his
career after stopping the clock in 1:41 2/5 for the Seacliff, and has racked up
$84,600 in lifetime earnings.

The filly companion event to the Seacliff, the $61,800
Lindsay Frolic Stakes, saw
Rose to Gold dominate her racing debut for owners Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele
Centofanti. The Sal Santoro pupil pressed leader Bama Rose throughout while
racing on the outside before cruising to the front in the stretch. The Friends
Lake filly drew off to record a 13-length victory under a hand ride from
jockey Jesus Rios.

Rose to Gold has been posting bullet moves at Calder since late July, and
earned $33,000 for taking her initial start. The juvenile miss stopped the clock for
the eight-furlong affair in 1:41 3/5.

Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa’s Itsmyluckyday lived up to his 7-5
favoritism one race later in the $61,800

Fasig Tipton Turf Dash, which was taken off the turf and run on the sloppy,
sealed, main track. The Ed Plesa Jr. charge took over from longshot Banzai Kid
entering the stretch to post a four-length score in his second stakes try.
Manoel Cruz guided the Lawyer Ron colt through five furlongs in :59 1/5.

Itsmyluckyday was making his Calder debut in this spot after posting his
first three starts at Monmouth Park. The dark bay juvenile finished second in a
June 1 maiden before capturing his initial win against similar company on June
23. He ran third by three parts of a length to Rip Roarin Ritchie, who scratched
out of this race, in the Tyro Stakes on August 5, and nearly doubled his
earnings to $71,600 while improving his line to read 4-2-1-1 with this win.

Martha’s Moon closed out the stakes action on Juvenile Showcase day when
scoring by 1 1/2 lengths in the $62,400

Catcharisingstar Stakes under Fernando Jara. Trained by Manuel Estevez for
Martha Reyes, the dark bay miss chased the pace before rallying in the lane and
edging away. The Malibu Moon filly recorded a final time of :59 4/5 for the
five-furlong affair, which was originally carded for the turf but moved to the
main track due to rain from Tropical Storm Isaac.

Martha’s Moon has shown a preference for sloppy tracks, breaking her maiden
on such a surface at Calder on July 22 after a well-beaten debut effort one
month prior in the J J’sdream Stakes over the fast going. She showed back up on
a fast track a week ago, and again suffered a double-digit length loss, but was
best here to improve her career record to 4-2-0-0, $49,450.
