A Saratoga tradition was doubled Wednesday when the infield pond at Saratoga
Race Course welcomed two canoes for the winners of Saturday’s 143rd edition of
the Grade 1 Travers.

For the first time, two canoes will float upon the infield pond at Saratoga
Race Course in honor of Golden Ticket and Alpha, who hit the wire together in an
electrifying finish resulting in the first dead-heat victory in the celebrated
history of the country’s oldest major stakes race for three-year-olds.

Officials from The New York Racing Association placed the canoes featuring
the colors of Golden Ticket and Alpha into the pond as tradition dictates for
the Travers winner.

One canoe carries the colors of Godolphin Stables, owner of the Kiaran
McLaughlin-trained Alpha. The other represents Magic City Thoroughbred Partners,
owner of the Kenny McPeek-conditioned Golden Ticket.
