Starlight Racing has sold a 50 percent interest in Shanghai Bobby, the 2-1
morning line favorite in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, to the Coolmore
connections of Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. Trained by
Todd Pletcher, the unbeaten two-year-old is considered an early favorite for
next year’s Kentucky Derby.

“They are in partnership and management decisions will be made by both
partners,” Starlight managing partner Jack Wolf told The Blood-Horse.
“This horse has done everything we have asked of him. I am flattered they want
to be in business with us.”

A debut maiden special weight winner at Aqueduct in April, Shanghai Bobby captured the June 27 Track Barron Stakes at Belmont in his second career outing.
The Harlan’s Holiday colt then posted easy wins in New York’s two biggest stakes
for two-year-olds, the Grade 2 Hopeful at Saratoga and Grade 1 Champagne at
Belmont Park.

The dark bay Kentucky-bred will face eight rivals in the Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile with regular rider Rosie Napravnik.
