Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity winner
Joha, a
Kentucky Derby prospect entering 2013, will be offered as a Racing Prospect at
the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale, according to Allen Kershaw. The
soon-to-be sophomore will sell the first day of the sale, January 7, and is
consigned as Hip No. 381.

Joha established himself as a leading two-year-old after an impressive
four-race streak earlier this year. Trained by Mike Maker, the Johar colt broke
his maiden at Belmont in late May by nearly three lengths and followed with a
head score in the Colin Stakes at Woodbine in July. Sent to Saratoga, Joha was
second by only a head in the Grade 2 With Anticipation on turf and then came
back to Kentucky to take Keeneland’s premier event for juveniles, the Breeders’
Futurity, by a length on October 6.

He experienced a rough trip from post 10 when eighth in the Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile Turf next out and exits a ninth in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club
Stakes at Churchill Downs on November 24. From eight career starts, Joha has
compiled a line of 3-2-1 and earned $427,538.

Joha was bred and raced by Bluegrass Equine Bloodstock, the entity who also
operates Bluegrass Equine Center, a training and rehabilitation facility in
Salvisa, Kentucky. According to Kershaw, the BEC general manager, Joha is from
the first group of horses bred by the partnership to have been developed at the
center.

“This is an excellent opportunity for someone to buy a Grade 1 winner who is
sound and ready to race,” Kershaw said. “Joha showed us his ability early on,
and he has certainly proven it on the racetrack. I believe he will continue to
progress in 2013.”

Joha currently is at Bluegrass Equine Center and is available for inspection
under tack. To make an appointment to see him, contact Kershaw at (859)
