Bohemian Lady is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner and sire Any Given Saturday
(Distorted Humor), who captured the 2007 Grade 1 Haskell Invitational. This
female family is also responsible for Grade 1 heroine Afifa (Dewan), Grade 2
winner Alias Smith (Al Hattab), and Group/Grade 3 winners Second of June (Louis
Quatorze) and Auction Ring (Bold Bidder).
COSMO GIRL (City Zip), a stakes-winning six-year-old mare, was sold as a
racing or broodmare prospect to Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings for $190,000.
Hip 1090 was part of the Baccari Bloodstock, agent, consignment.
Campaigned by Chris Baccari, Cosmo Girl’s current record stands at 24-4-5-1,
$156,237. She earned her biggest win in the $75,000 Carousel at Oaklawn Park in
March 2011, winning the six-furlong stakes by 2 3/4 lengths for trainer Michael
Mareina. She placed in three other stakes, at Oaklawn and Lone Star Park.
A half-sister to stakes winner Green Suede Shoes (Meadow Monster), Cosmo Girl
was produced by the unraced Ever Imelda (Personal Hope) and previously sold as a
$45,000 Keeneland September yearling. This family has also produced Ermine
(Exchange Rate), winner of the 2007 Grade 1 Apple Blossom Handicap.
A yearling son of Into Mischief, whose 2013 graded stakes winners include the
three-year-olds Goldencents and Vyjack, sold to Alex and JoAnn Lieblong for
$160,000. The April 25 Kentucky-bred was offered by Taylor Made Sales Agency,
agent, and toured the ring as Hip 1102.
Produced by the winning Daysofwebnroses (Meadowlake), the bay’s extended
family includes Grade 3 winner Mr. Angel (Cormorant).
Business remained strong through the third day of the five-day auction. On
Wednesday, 227 horses sold for $4,953,900, a rise of 16.4 percent over the
corresponding session last year when 263 horses brought $4,255,900. The average
was up 34.9 percent, from $16,182 to $21,823, while the median rose 73.3
percent, from $7,500 to $13,000.
Cumulatively, 676 horses have sold for $40,299,000, an increase of 17.2
percent over 2012 when $34,371,200 was grossed from the sale of 750 head. The
average has risen 30.1 percent, from $45,828 to $59,614, while the median is up
25 percent, from $20,000 to $25,000.
The sale runs through Friday, with sessions beginning daily at 10
a.m. (EST).
