Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton
celebrated the launch of Royal Ascot’s 2013 campaign, “The Colour and the
Glory,” on Thursday at Hyde Park in London.

Modeling the outfit from the official campaign image,
Victoria wore a hat by globally renowned milliner Philip Treacy and dress by
designer Emilia Wickstead to help celebrate classic British style and fashion at Royal Ascot, which
will take place
June 18-22.

“I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to take part in the
shoot today, and I am a big fan of Emilia Wickstead and Philip Treacy,”
Pendleton said when asked about the collaboration. “I have always loved Royal Ascot and have been several
times, it’s one of the most exciting events of the summer social season and I
was lucky enough to be asked to present the trophy for The Britannia Stakes a
few years ago.

“In many ways, with horses coming from all around the world
to run at Royal Ascot, it is just like the Olympic games.”

Ascot Racecourse, founded in 1711, is the premier racing
venue in the United Kingdom and home to Europe’s premier flat race meeting,
Royal Ascot. The Royal Meeting, run in mid-June, annually showcases the best
horses in the world and brings champions together from every continent.

In 2012 the world’s top two horses — Frankel, trained by the legendary Sir
Henry Cecil in Newmarket, and the talismanic Australian mare Black Caviar — lit
up the British summer at the Royal Meeting. There were also wins for Hong Kong,
Germany and Ireland over the week.

Royal Ascot is not only a celebration of horseracing at its very best, it is
also a social occasion steeped in history and synonymous with pageantry and
style. On each of the five race days, The Queen arrives by Royal Procession
along the racecourse with her guests, in full view of up to 80,000 spectators.

“Royal Ascot is iconic in the world of racing,” Treacy said. “It is the
ultimate marriage of the sport of kings, with style, elegance, hats and royalty
— it creates a most unique combination.”

At the heart of Royal Ascot is the Royal Enclosure which, like the tradition
of the Royal Procession, dates back to the early 1800s and the reign of George
IV. Within this area, a strict dress code of morning dress for men and formal
day wear for ladies applies.

In 2013, Ascot will introduce the Pavilion Club, located in the
well-appointed pavilion building with views toward the Parade Ring and plaza
lawns. Offering stylish seating and access to a range of food offerings, an
extensive pay bar and betting facilities, customers can relax in the private
lawn directly in front of the club in between races.

“We’d like to think that the campaign image for this year’s
Royal Meeting perfectly captures the color and excitement that makes it such a
defining event in the British calendar,” said Charles Barnett, chief executive
at Ascot Racecourse. “It is designed to merge the essential fashion element of
Royal Ascot effortlessly with the image of the one of the stars of Royal Ascot
2012, Black Caviar, who could have run anywhere in the world after conquering
Australia, but was aimed only for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

“Reflecting the quality and unique international nature of
the racing at Royal Ascot together with fashion at the highest level was very
much high on our minds when putting this image together.”
