Gulfstream opens Palm Meadows to displaced horsemen

Last updated: 6/29/13 12:18 PM

Gulfstream Park announced Saturday morning that it will open the Palm Meadows
training facility immediately to help horsemen who will be displaced by Calder’s
restricted access policy.

There will be no charge for stall rent.

“The policy of The Stronach Group and our chairman, Mr. Frank Stronach, has
always been to allow horsemen open access,” Gulfstream President Tim Ritvo said.
“If horsemen want to run with us, they will have a home.”

Gulfstream also announced Saturday morning that horsemen who run a horse
Monday through July 7 will receive a $1,000 starter fee.

Calder Race Course finalized plans this week to disallow re-entry to the
track for horses shipping from Calder to Gulfstream Park.
