Tom Durant purchased fillies by Discreetly Mine and Birdstone for $65,000,
each, at Monday’s Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearling Sale in Grand Prairie,
Texas.
The Discreetly Mine filly, Hip No. 9, is the first foal out of Sign Up
(Mineshaft), a half-sister to English highweight Certify (Elusive Quality) and
Grade 1 winner Cry and Catch Me (Street Cry). The March 21 Texas-bred was
offered by Lane’s End Texas, agent.
Lane’s End Texas, agent for La Bahia Stud, consigned the Birdstone filly,
which toured the ring as Hip 89. A half-sister to recent Saratoga juvenile
maiden winner Wedding Toast (Street Sense), the January 19 Kentucky-bred was
produced by Golden Sheba (Coronado’s Quest), a half-sister to multiple Grade 1
star Congaree (Arazi) and Grade 1-placed stakes winner Sangaree (Awesome Again).
On Monday, 97 yearlings brought $1,255,100, an increase of 9.1 percent over
last year when $1,150,000 was realized from the sale of 113 head. The average
rose 27.1 percent, from $10,177 to $12,939, while the median was up 33.3
percent, from $6,000 to $8,000.
