Canadian Horse of the Year Uncaptured shook off a case of seconditis with an
off-the-pace victory Tuesday night in the $487,000

Prince of Wales
at Fort Erie, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Under Miguel Mena, the 2-5 favorite made a wide rally in the stretch to
overtake River Seven inside the final furlong and went on to a one-length
triumph in a time of 1:55 2/5 for 1 3/16 miles on a fast track. Uncaptured paid
$2.90 to win.

River Seven, who stalked in second as Power Phil through soft fractions of
:24, :49 2/5 and 1:13 2/5, seized the lead from that rival and opened up a 1
1/2-length advantage in the stretch, but could not fend off his classier rival.
River Seven was 4 1/2 lengths clear of Niigon’s Glory, who led Jagger M, Power
Phil and Rackman across the wire. Scratched from the field were Dynamic Sky and
the filly Spring in the Air.

This was the first victory of the season for Uncaptured, who races for John
Oxley and is trained by Mark Casse. The Lion Heart colt had finished second
three times this year, in the Spiral at Turfway Park, the Wando at Woodbine, and
the Matt Winn at Churchill Downs most recently. He was a sub-par 10th in the
Blue Grass at Keeneland his second start of the season.

Uncaptured was named Horse of the Year in Canada at two, scoring wins in the
Clarendon, Vandal, and Swynford at Woodbine, and later adding the Iroquois and
Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill. He suffered his only defeat last term when
fifth to River Seven in the Grey at Woodbine. The Grade 2-winning Uncaptured has
now earned $952,306 from a line of 12-7-3-0.

Uncaptured was bred in Ontario by William D. Graham and sold for $290,000 as
a yearling at the 2011 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. His dam is the Arch
mare Captivating, making him a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Dancing
Raven. Also from his female side of the family is Grade 2 winner Dundalk Dust
and Grade 3 scorer Gentleman Beau.
