“For the last four years, Pimlico has celebrated and
supported the empowerment of women by bringing that commitment to light on Black
Eyed Susan Day,” Maryland Jockey Club President Tom Chuckas said. “Next year’s
Black Eyed Susan Day will prove to be an important evolution of this
celebration, serving as our platform to honor the spirit and strength of women.”
Empowerment 360° is a year-round fundraising concept to
support women through mentoring workshops. The plan is to have multiple
workshops throughout the year building up to Black-Eyed Susan Day.
“This is an opportunity to recruit and engage a younger
audience by making a positive impact in the community,” Chuckas added. “We are
going to pick a different charity each year in hopes of broadening the brand,
making the event ‘The Ultimate Girls Day Out.'”
