For the fourth consecutive year, Horse Racing Radio Network
(HRRN), the Eclipse Award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington,
Kentucky, will provide exclusive radio coverage of the Kentucky Derby on May 3
live from Churchill Downs.
This Saturday, HRRN returns to Gulfstream Park to begin
their “Road to the Kentucky Derby” broadcast series showcasing live coverage of
Derby prep races included in the Kentucky Derby Championship Series which begins
with Gulfstream’s Grade 2, $400,000 Fountain of Youth and the Grade 2, $400,000 Risen Star at
Fair Grounds.
HRRN’s series consists of nine broadcasts spotlighting
14 races in the Championship Series.
Saturday’s broadcast begins at 4:30 (EST) and includes
coverage of the Grade 2, $200,000 Davona Dale and Grade 3, $150,000 Canadian Turf in addition
to the Fountain of Youth and Risen Star.
“The Kentucky Derby is ‘The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports,’
but there is more to the Derby than just the first Saturday in May,” said Mike Penna,
president of HRRN. “The prep races showcased in the Championship Series provide
great theater and we are proud to enhance our Derby coverage by bringing the
excitement of these races to racing fans around the world.”
Listeners may tune-in to the broadcasts throughout North
America on SiriusXM satellite radio as well as on select terrestrial affiliates
and via live streaming provided on the
HRRN website. In addition, the streaming can be accessed on
mobile phones and tablets but clicking the “Listen Live” button on the HRRN home
page.
