“I had a beautiful trip. That was where I expected to be on the pace,”
Castellano said. “She really blew out of the gate. My only concern was two
turns, and she responded today. It was a great effort the way she did it. She
set strong fractions at the beginning of the race and she was under pressure the
whole race. She handled it so well.”
House Rules held second by a half-length over Aurelia’s Belle, who was
followed by Penwith, Stopchargingmaria, Luna Santa, Abou, and Holiday Magic.
Onlyforyou made her career debut on November 10 at Aqueduct, posting a 2
1/4-length victory in a six-furlong maiden, and followed with a 3 1/2-length
romp at Gulfstream Park on December 15, defeating allowance foes at the same
distance. She preceded this victory with a 2 3/4-length score in the Forward Gal
over seven furlongs on January 25. She’s now earned $308,100.
“It looked like she handled a mile and a sixteenth today, so we’ll see how
she comes out of it,” Pletcher said. “Having already won here three times now,
it’d be hard to think about taking her anywhere else.”
Bred in Kentucky by Elm Tree Farm & Popatop, Onlyforyou was purchased for
$115,000 at the 2012 Keeneland September sale. She is out of the Grade 3-placed
mare Erhu, a daughter of Tactical Cat. Onlyforyou’s third dam, the unraced Bold
Bidder mare Great Finesse, produced three stakes winners and this is the female
family of Grade 1 winner Unfurl the Flag.
