According to Daily Racing Form‘s Mike Welsch, Honor Code was ridden by
Javier Castellano for his work in company with thrice-raced maiden Special
Agent, who clocked :59 2/5.
Clocker Bruno de Julio passed on Bill Blakeman’s report of the work, tweeting
that Honor Code went “without need of urging, finishing final quarter in :23.3.”
An exquisitely-bred son of A.P. Indy, Honor Code has been playing catch-up
since bruising his hind ankles earlier this winter. Hall of Fame trainer Shug
McGaughey hopes to have him ready to return in the Grade 2 Rebel at Oaklawn Park
March 15.
At Oaklawn, Rebel rival Tapiture motored five panels in 1:00 2/5, second best
of 48 moves at the distance on the fast track. The Steve Asmussen trainee has
won his past two in dominating fashion, taking the November 30 Kentucky Jockey
Club and the February 17 Southwest Stakes by 4 1/4 lengths each.
Also tuning up for the Rebel, flashy Oaklawn maiden winner Street Strategy
breezed six furlongs in a bullet 1:13 4/5 for Randy Morse.
At Palm Meadows, Todd Pletcher sent out two of his prospects for Saturday’s
Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby: Sam F. Davis winner Vinceremos sped a half-mile in :48
2/5, while Surfing U S A posted :51.
