Extrasexyhippzster
worked five furlongs in company in 1:00 on a cool, clear Sunday morning at
Keeneland. The dark bay colt is under consideration for the Grade 1, $750,000
Blue Grass Stakes on April 12.
With jockey Stewart Elliott up, Exxtrasexyhippzster started
four lengths behind workmate War Ready and posted fractions of :12 4/5, :24 4/5,
:36 1/5 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:13 2/5. Extrasexyhippzster finished two
lengths back at the wire and drew even on the gallop out.
“I thought he went very well and handled the track good,”
Elliott said of the Michael Trombetta trainee. “Mike said he worked on his own
the last time (1:03 for five-eighths at Laurel on March 22) and he does better
when he has company.”
Reached by phone at his Maryland base, Trombetta said
Extrasexyhippzster probably would work again next Sunday.
“If he works well, we would go on to the Blue
Grass,” said Trombetta, who plans to be at Keeneland for the work. “Julian
(Pimentel) would ride him in the Blue Grass.”
A two-time stakes winner on dirt at Laurel and Aqueduct,
Extrasexyhippzster would be making his Polytrack debut in the Blue Grass.
He finished eighth in the Gotham at Aqueduct in his most recent start March 1.
Pablo Del Monte, undefeated in two main track Keeneland starts, worked six
furlongs in 1:14 for trainer Wesley Ward in preparation for the Blue Grass. Also
working for Ward was Commonwealth nominee Undrafted, who covered five furlongs in :59.
