Laurel cancels Friday, Saturday cards due to track conditions

Last updated: 1/23/15 6:47 PM

Officials canceled live racing at Laurel for Friday and Saturday due to track conditions. Laurel and its sister track, Pimlico, will be open for simulcasting.

“Given the questionable surface we have had all week with the freeze and thaw
and pending sleet and freezing rain tonight it is in the best interest to
preserve the racetrack,” Sinatra said in announcing the Saturday cancellation.

Sinatra indicated the $100,000 Frank Whitely Jr. and the $100,000 Marshua,
both scheduled for Saturday, will be run next week.

Saturday’s cancellation was the third of the week at Laurel, which also did
not conduct racing Monday as originally scheduled.

Live racing is scheduled to resume next Thursday, January 29.
