A pair of yearling fillies bred in Louisiana topped the leader board at the
first session of the 2015 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Winter Mixed Sale on
Wednesday.
Heading the preferred session was Hip No. 105, a daughter from the first crop
of Grade 1 winner The Factor who sold for $190,000 to George Bolton and Peter
Leidel. The March 15 foal was offered by Kim Harrison (Top Speed Farm), agent.
The session topper was reared by Viva Vega (Cobra King), who has produced the
Grade 3-placed stakes winner Southern Dude (Lion Tamer). Viva Vega is a full
sister to multiple stakes winner Follow Me Home, and was herself out of the
multiple stakes-winning Ree Saspri (Pachuto).
EQB, agent for Zayat Stables, went to $87,000 to secure Hip 145, a yearling
filly by Pioneerof the Nile. Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck),
agent, consigned the March 22 foal.
The bay is out of Cinnamon Kisses (Doneraile Court), a half-sister to Grade 3
winner The Mailet (Rock Hard Ten). This extended family includes the multiple
Grade 1-winning half-sisters Starrer (Dynaformer) and Stellar Jayne (Wild Rush),
Grade 1 winner Star Billing (Dynaformer) and multiple Grade 2 winner American
Royale (American Standard).
At the conclusion of trading, 124 horses sold for $2,462,200, a decline of
16.9 percent over last year when 154 horses sold for $2,962,700. The average was
up 3.2 percent, from $19,238 to $19,856, while the median dipped 29.3 percent,
from $15,000 to $10,600.
The sale concludes Thursday with an open session beginning at 10:30 a.m.
(EST), followed by a horses of racing age session.
