$900,000 Bernardini colt tops final session of OBS Spring
sale

Hip No. 1100, a son of Bernardini consigned by Niall
Brennan Stables, agent, went to Linda Rice, agent for Kaitar Racing LLC, for
$900,000 to top the fourth and final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales
Company’s 2015 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training on Friday.

The bay colt, who
breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Saturday’s under tack show, is out of Grade 3
heroine Graeme Six (Graeme Hall), making him a half-brother to stakes runner-up Cali Star
(Street Cry) and promising three-year-old Delightful Joy (Tapit), a winner at first asking
and sixth as the favorite in the recent Beaumont S. (G3) at Keeneland.

The Kentucky-bred colt RNAed for $290,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton
Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale.

Mark Casse, agent, went to $750,000 for STREET GRAY (Street Cry), a gray colt consigned
as Hip 1073 by de Meric Sales,
agent for Golden Legacy Stables. Out of Gharbiah (Bernardini), who is a half-sister
to multiple Grade 1 heroine and $2.7-million earner Honey Ryder (Lasting
Approval), his eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at the
distance at last Friday’s nder tack show.

The Kentucky-bred Street Gray was a $45,000 Keeneland September yearling RNA.

The highest-priced filly on Friday came when Hip 1032, a daughter of Harlan’s Holiday consigned by
de Meric Sales, agent, was purchased by J.W.S. for $500,000. The bay filly,
whose eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at the distance at Saturday’s under tack
show, is out of the unraced Favoritism (Tiznow), who is a daughter of Grade
3-placed Chaste (Cozzene).

The Kentucky-bred filly, whose fourth dam is Dame Mysterieuse (Bold Forbes),
was a nice pinhook for her consigners after they bought her for $95,000 at last
year’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale.

For the session, 160 two-year-olds sold for a total of
$14,054,500, a rise of 6.1 percent compared with 182 horses bringing $13,242,000 at the corresponding
session last year. The average price was $87,841, up 20.7 percent from $72,758 in 2014,
while the median was $45,000, a gain of 7.1 percent above last year’s $42,000 median
figure. The buyback percentage was 21.2 percent; it was 22.5 percent a year ago.

For the entire sale, 676 horses grossed $53,711,400,
which declined 5.7 percent when compared with 770 youngsters bringing a sale record $56,965,000 a year ago. The
average price was a sale record $79,455, up 7.4 percent over last year’s record
$73,981, while the median figure was $45,000, equaling the sale record set at
the 2014 sale. The buyback percentage was 22 percent; it was 18.2 percent a year ago.

Sixty
horses sold for $200,000 or more compared with 52 at the 2014 sale.

The sale topper Hip 439, a daughter of Tapit consigned
by Woodford Thoroughbreds, agent, sold to Solis/Litt for an OBS record
$1.9 million on Wednesday. The gray filly, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at last
Wednesday’s session of the under tack show, is out of Silver Wolf (Silver
Deputy), who is a half-sister to Grade 1 victor Corinthian (Pulpit).

Next on the OBS agenda is the June Sale of Two-Year-Olds
