Blame colt, Tizway filly share session-topping duties at
OBS Spring Sale

A colt by Blame and a filly by Tizway each brought $700,000
to top the third session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2015 Spring Sale
of Two-Year-Olds in Training on Thursday.

Hip No. 719, a Pennsylvania-bred son of Blame consigned by All In
Sales (Tony Bowling), agent, went to Jonathan Thomas, agent for Repole Stable
Inc. The dark bay colt, who breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at
last Thursday’s under tack session, is out of stakes winner Alexandra Rylee (Afleet Alex).

The co-session topper proved to be a successful pinhook for All In Sales, who
purchased him for $105,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

The daughter of Tizway, consigned by King’s
Equine, agent for Spendthrift Farm, as Hip 856, was purchased by Conquest Stables LLC. The
Kentucky-bred dark bay filly, who worked an eighth in :10 to be co-fastest
at the distance at last Friday’s under tack session, is a half-sister to Grade
2-placed stakes winner Populist Politics (Don’t Get Mad). The duo are both out
of multiple stakes-placed Cedar Summer (Souvenir Copy).

The filly was no stranger to the OBS sales ring, having RNAed for $240,000 at
last year’s August Yearling Sale.

For the session, 164 horses sold for $15,224,000, a drop of nearly 4 percent
when compared with 195 horses selling for a total of $15,854,000 at last
year’s third session. The average price was $92,829, up 14.2 percent compared with
$81,303 a year ago, while the median price was $50,000, a decline of 3.8 percent
when compared with last
year’s $52,000 figure. The buyback percentage was 26.5 percent; it was 18.4
percent last year.

With three days in the books, 506 horses have been purchased for $39,258,900,
a drop of 10.2 percent over this point in last year’s sale when 588 juveniles
had sold for $43,723,000. The $77,587 average rose 4.3 percent on the $74,349
average recorded through the third session in 2014, while the median increased
3.2 percent, from $47,000 to $48,500.

The Spring Sale’s fourth and final session begins Friday at
10:30 a.m. (EDT). For full results, please visit obssales.com.
