Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge registration now open

Last updated: 6/26/15 3:05 PM

The Breeders’ Cup announced that registration is now
open for the seventh annual Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC), which will be held at Keeneland on Friday,
October 30, and Saturday, October 31, and at five satellite locations from coast
to coast.

The Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge is the largest live money
handicapping tournament in the United States, in terms of prize money, with upwards of an
expected record of more than $875,000 for this year’s event.

Due to the enormous popularity of the BCBC, Breeders’ Cup
Ltd. has expanded the tournament from two to five satellite locations. New
locations this year are the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club near San Diego, California,
home of the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships; Gulfstream Park, in
Hallandale Beach, Florida; and a Las Vegas satellite location to be named at a
later date. Those sites join Santa Anita Park, site of the 2016 Breeders’ Cup;
and Aqueduct in Ozone Park, New York.

The Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge is unique in its format
as $7,500 of the $10,000 entry fee is dedicated to each player’s live money
bankroll and the remaining $2,500 going into the overall prize pool. The BCBC
permits win, place, show, exacta and trifecta wagering as part of the contest.
The tournament winner is the player who has accumulated the highest live money
betting bankroll over the two-day event, which encompasses all 22 races during
Breeders’ Cup weekend.

Players keep all funds remaining in their betting
bankroll. The top 15 finishers share the estimated $875,000 prize pool.

Robert Traynor of Oceanside, California, the 2014 BCBC champion, took home a total of $301,000.

As a special bonus, the top two finishers at the 2015
Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge will receive interests in a West Point
Thoroughbreds horse, with the winner receiving a $25,000 interest and the
second- place finisher receiving a $10,000 interest.

The 2015 BCBC estimated prize pool distribution (based on
350 players) is as follows:

“The success of the BCBC is a direct result of the horse
player understanding the tremendous value offered by participating,” said Tim Schram,
tournament director. “With a BCBC entry, each player receives admission, seats,
and buffet at the Breeders’ Cup for the weekend and also has the opportunity to
share in the huge prize pool.

“We are equally excited about our expansion of the BCBC to satellite
locations at Del Mar, Gulfstream Park and Las Vegas and look forward to working with all satellite partners by providing
a convenient service and value to their players by creating a way in which they
can participate in the BCBC from their home location.”

In another BCBC added benefit this year, the top 15
finishers will be awarded berths to the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping
Championship (NHC) that takes place at Treasure Island Las Vegas in January 2016.

BCBC
participants will have seating in a private tournament room at Keeneland, and at
all satellite locations. To register for the BCBC, go to
