Girolamo returned late in his three-year-old season and went 4-3-0-0,
including a win in the Jerome H. (G2), prior to an unplaced effort in the
Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). The Godolphin colorbearer, who was trained by Kiaran
McLaughlin as a two-year-old before switching to Saeed bin Suroor’s barn, ran
fifth in his four-year-old debut in the Forego S. (G1) ahead of earning his
biggest triumph in the Vosburgh S. (G1). Two races later the Kentucky-bred
closed out his career with a half-length third in the Cigar Mile H. (G1).
Girolamo headed to the breeding shed sporting an 11-5-0-1, $443,800, career
record. He is out of Grade 2-placed stakes winner Get Lucky (Mr. Prospector),
making him a full brother to Grade 2 queen Daydreaming as well as the dams of
2010 Kentucky Derby (G1) hero Super Saver (Maria’s Mon) and Grade 1-winning
millionaire Bluegrass Cat (Storm Cat). Daydreaming is herself the dam of Grade
1-scoring millionaire Imagining (Giant’s Causeway).
Girolamo’s second dam is Grade 1 vixen Dance Number (Northern Dancer), who
would go on in the breeding shed to produce champion Rhythm, a full brother to
Get Lucky. His third dam is champion and blue-hen mare Numbered Account (Buckpasser),
and this stellar female family also includes dual Grade 1 victor and leading
sire Private Account (Damascus) as well as Group 2-placed listed winner and sire
Mutakddim (Seeking the Gold)
Originally sent to stud at Sequel Stallions in New York, Girolamo was
transferred to Darley’s Jonabell Farm near Lexington, Kentucky, for the 2014
season. He stands there now for a fee of $5,000, stands and nurses.
