Triple Crown champion American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile) departed
Based at Santa Anita over the winter, American Pharoah has counted Barn 33,
“My experience here was great,” said assistant trainer Jimmy Barnes, who

“It was a great experience,” regular exercise rider George Alvarez said. “I
just wanted to win the Kentucky Derby (G1) and get it off my (list), but this
horse just kept on going and that was a great experience.”
Both Barnes and Alvarez reported that American Pharoah would likely resume
training on Friday morning at Santa Anita.
The Zayat Stables colorbearer has won seven straight stakes races since his
career debut and earned $4,530,300.
Traveling alongside the Triple Crown winner for Thursday’s flight were
stablemates Cat Burglar (Unbridled’s Song), Fame and Power (First Defence) and
Hoppertunity (Any Given Saturday), all of which ran last Saturday night as a
part of Churchill Downs’ 11-race Downs After Dark program.
