Haras Phillipson Inc.’s homebred Gas Total (Sulamani) added a first stakes
win to her resume when gutting out a neck decision in Saturday’s $88,480
Osunitas
S.
at Del Mar.

The 1 1/16-mile contest was scheduled to take place on the turf, but was
switched to the good main track following rain storms earlier in the day. The
change didn’t bother Gas Total, though, as the Richard Mandella mare ran down My
Monet (Decarchy) to stop the clock in 1:46.68 under jockey Flavien Prat.

The Brazilian-bred Gas Total won her initial U.S. start on March 29 and was
second in both the Vanity S. (G1) and Possibly Perfect H. in her past two.
