Reigning champion turf and older male Main Sequence has been retired due to a
tendon tear, trainer Graham Motion’s Herringswell Stables reported via Twitter
Monday. The injury was detected after his uncharacteristic seventh as the
defending champion in the July 5 United Nations (G1).
“Following Main Sequence’s poor performance in the United Nations Handicap, a
thorough veterinary examination was carried out last week,” Flaxman Holdings’
Racing Manager Alan Cooper said. “A tendon tear was discovered and the decision
has been taken to retire him.”
