Average handle rises at Saratoga, declines at Del Mar and
Ellis

The New York Racing Association on Tuesday reported that daily all-sources
handle during the 40-day Saratoga meet rose 13.5 percent, from $14,279,087 to
$16,206,820.

The total handle of $648,272,805 was up 13.5 percent over last year’s figure
and beat the previous meet handle record of $590,187,876 set in 2012. That
figure includes international settlements that have yet to be recorded for the
2015 Saratoga meet.

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club reported a gross handle of $486,060,724, 9.8
percent higher than last year. However, daily average handle dropped 1.2
percent, from $12,295,175 to $12,151,518. Del Mar ran 40 days this year compared
to 36 days in 2014.

Ellis Park reported all-sources handle during their 31-day meet rose 8.2
percent to $33 million. That works out to a daily average of $1,064,516, 2.3
percent less than the average handle of $1,089,286 during a 28-day meet in 2014.
