Big Blue Kitten faces six in Joe Hirsch Turf Classic

Big Blue Kitten (Kitten’s Joy), hero of the United Nations (G1) two back over
returning rivals Slumber (Cacique) and Twilight Eclipse (Purim), heads a field
of seven in the $600,000 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Belmont Park on
Saturday.

Runner-up by a neck in the Arlington Million (G1) last time, Big Blue Kitten
also must face multiple Grade 2 winner and recent Sword Dancer Invitational (G1)
runner-up Red Rifle (Giant’s Causeway) in the 1 1/2-mile prep for the Breeders’
Cup Turf.

Earlier in the card, Ogden Phipps (G1) romper Wedding Toast (Street Sense)
make her first start since June in the $400,000 Beldame (G1) over 1 1/8 miles.
Also in the field of six is the three-year-old Curalina (Curlin), who is looking
to stay in the hunt for divisional honors after earlier wins in the Acorn (G1)
and Coaching Club American Oaks (G1).

Also on Saturday, the $200,000 Pilgrim (G3) has attracted 10 two-year-olds to
go 1 1/16 miles on the turf as a prelude to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf
(G1).
