The $350,000
Hopeful
S. (G1) drew a field of eight juveniles going seven furlongs on the main
track and features a rematch between Magna Light (Magna Graduate) and Uncle
Vinny (Uncle Mo) from the July 25 Sanford S. (G3). Magna Light actually one that
six-furlong contest, but was placed third following a controversial decision by
the stewards. That moved Uncle Vinny up to first.
One race before the Hopeful, seven runners will line up in the $250,000
Bernard Baruch H. (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Constitution (Tapit)
will be making his grass debut in the race following a more than seven-month
break. The four-year-old was last seen taking the Donn H. (G1) and is likely
using the Bernard Baruch as a stepping-stone to the $1 million Jockey Club Gold
Cup (G1) at Belmont Park on October 3.
