Lucky Lindy (Harlan’s Holiday) and Midnight Miley (Midnight Lute) proved best at Woodbine on Sunday in the
$134,738
Ontario Derby (Can-G3) and $98,106
La
Lorgnette S., respectively.
Lucky Lindy, trained by Mark Frostad for Augustin Stable, was an easy 3
3/4-length winner of the Ontario Derby under jockey Robby Albarado. The duo
previously teamed up to be third in the 1 1/2-mile Breeders’ S., the third leg
of the Canadian Triple Crown, but easily drew off in Sunday’s nine-furlong
stakes to stop the clock in 1:50.64.
Midnight Miley repelled a late run from Don’t Leave Me to upset the La
Lorgnette by a head with jockey Jesse Campbell holding the reins. Sent off the
second longest shot on the board at 23-1, the Julia Carey-trained sophomore
filly completed 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.96 to earn her first stakes win for Little
Red Feather Racing.
