Ageless nabs Lady Shipman in Franklin County

The six-year-old mare Ageless (Successful Appeal) proved just that on Friday at
Keeneland as she wore down 3-5 favorite Lady Shipman (Midshipman), a rival three
years younger than her, to take the $100,000 Franklin County by a head.

Julien Leparoux was aboard for the head victory in a time of 1:03.63 for 5
1/2 furlongs on turf listed as firm.

The Franklin County served as a possible prelude for the $1 million Breeders’
Cup Turf Sprint (G1) for both Ageless and Lady Shipman, but the winner’s status
was somewhat in doubt after she was vanned off following the race with a cut
near her left hock.
