Om wires Twilight Derby; Dortmund triumphant in return

Sareen Family Trust’s Om (Munnings) and Kaleem Shah Inc.’s Dortmund (Big Brown)
secured back-to-back stakes wins at Santa Anita Park on Saturday

Om was going for his second straight black-type after taking the Del Mar
Derby (G2) on September 6 when lining up in the $200,750

Twilight Derby (G2)
, and wired that nine-furlong turf affair by 2 1/4
lengths under jockey Gary Stevens. The Dan Hendricks trainee stopped the clock
on the firm grass in 1:45.90 as the 1-2 favorite.

Dortmund was also sent off the favorite at 1-5 one race later in the $75,580

with Martin Garcia aboard. The Bob Baffert pupil was making his first
start since finishing fourth behind stablemate and Triple Crown champion
American Pharoah in the May 16 Preakness S. (G1). He pulled away to a 1
3/4-length score in the Big Bear while finishing a mile on the fast main track
in 1:36.42.
