Scat Daddy filly tops first Fasig-Tipton session at
$340,000
A Scat Daddy filly out of Halo’s Verse (Unbridled’s Song) brought $340,000
from Mike Ryan, agent, at Monday’s first session of the Fasig-Tipton October
Yearling Sale at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky.
Consigned by Anderson Farms, agent, Hip No. 340 counts as a third dam stakes
winner Goulash (Mari’s Book), who produced multiple champion filly Ashado, Grade
1 winner Sunriver and Grade 3 victor Saint Stephen, all by Saint Ballado.
Barolo Farm purchased Hip 356, a son of Malibu Moon for $250,000. He was
consigned by Four Star Sales, agent for JSM Equine and Greathouse Horse
Property.
The colt is out of Here Comes Amelia (War Chant), a half-sister to Canadian
Horse of the Year and U.S. turf champion Chief Bearhart (Chief’s Crown) and
Grade 1 winner Explosive Red (Explodent). All were reared by Amelia Bearhart
(Bold Hour), whose descendants include current multiple Grade 1 sprint star
Private Zone (Macho Uno).
Conquest Stable obtained a Lonhro half-brother to Grade 2 winner Ventana (Toccet)
and stakes winner Miss Challenge (More Than Ready) for $220,000. Consigned by
Mulholland Farm as Hip 286, the colt out of Full Figure (Polish Numbers) hails
from the extended family of Grade 1 winner Stephen Got Even (A.P. Indy).
Earlier, SF Racing secured a Bodemeister half-sister to multiple Grade 1
winner The Factor (War Front) for $215,000. Hip 250 was consigned by Baccari
Bloodstock, agent.
At the conclusion of trading Monday, 204 yearlings had sold for $6,694,300, a
decline of 25.3 percent from last year when 263 horses sold for $8,956,600 on
the first day of a three-day auction. This year’s sale is four days. The average
was down 3.6 percent, from $34,056 to $32,815, while the median dipped 11.8
percent, from $17,000 to $15,000.
