Kentucky Derby Future Wager, Sire Future Wager fields
announced
Churchill Downs on Tuesday
released the names of the 23 individual horses that comprise pool one of the
2016 Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW). The first pool takes place this
week beginning Wednesday and ending Sunday. The “All Others” option was made the
7-5 morning line favorite, while likely juvenile colt champion Nyquist is, at
10-1, the shortest individual choice.
For the first time,
Churchill Downs will offer a Kentucky Derby Sire Future Wager. The bet,
which will be offered concurrently with the first pool of the KDFW, offers fans
a chance to wager on the sire that will produce the winner of the upcoming Run
for the Roses.
Ed DeRosa says the
Future Wagers offer tremendous opportunity.
Dortmund won’t make the trip to Churchill Downs for Friday’s $500,000 Clark
H. (G1), but trainer Bob Baffert will be well-represented by
Hoppertunity, who makes a title defense against a strong field of rivals in the
1 1/8-mile centerpiece event of the fall meet.
