Pray for Paris; Isabella Sings, Gentlemen’s Bet and Mr
Maybe star in Saturday stakes
A quartet of major stakes took place on Saturday throughout the United
States, but the big news was the racing world’s reaction to the terrorist
attacks in Paris Friday evening.
Kellie Reilly compiled tweets from various international and domestic racing
individuals and organizations to offer an overview of how the racing community
is supporting France, then
took a trip to Japan to study for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Kyoto.
Back home in Kentucky,
Isabella Sings (Eskendereya) upset the Mrs. Revere S. (G2) at Churchill Downs,
while
Mr Maybe ruled in New York with an authoritative victory in the Red Smith H.
(G3) at Aqueduct. Frank J. De Francis Dash Day at Laurel Park featured six
stakes events, with
Gentlemen’s Bet (Half Ours) getting the win in the main event following the
disqualification of Trouble Kid (Harlan’s Holiday), and cross-country in
California
Toews on Ice (Archarcharch) earned a stakes hat trick in the Bob Hope S. (G3) at
Del Mar.
Also at Churchill Downs on Saturday, there were
numerous workers readying for upcoming starts including Mark Casse trainees
Airoforce and Conquest Big E.
