Once he went out on own in late 2007, Chad Brown quickly rose up in the trainer ranks. And after leading all conditioners by earnings in 2016, the 39-year-old native of Mechanicville, New York was rewarded with his first Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer.

Brown’s win totals increased significantly, from 31 in 2008 to 138 in 2012 as he established himself as a force nationwide. After compiling 203 wins in 2015, the former Bobby Frankel assistant enjoyed another strong season by capturing 182-of-763 starts in 2016, a 23.8% win rate.

His starters earned a career-best $23,134,394.

Brown excels with all types but is best-known for his turf prowess. He’s proven to be a force in the Breeders’ Cup, recording eight wins since sending out his first starter in 2008, including seven on turf. He captured the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) with New Money Honey and recorded a trio of seconds at Santa Anita last fall.

His best runners in 2016 included Grade 1 winners Flintshire, Lady Eli and Connect.
