Nominees for the 2017 Cartier Racing Awards, European racing’s equivalent of the U.S. Eclipse Awards, were released on Sunday.
Established in 1991 to reward excellence in European horseracing, there are eight equine awards as well as the Cartier/Daily Telegraph Award of Merit. The equine awards are decided by points earned by horses in Pattern races (30 percent), opinions of a panel made up of racing journalists and handicappers (30 percent), and votes from readers of the Racing Post, The Daily Telegraph and ITV Racing viewers (35 percent).
“The 2017 European Flat season has delivered exceptional performances month after month and the nominees for the 27th Cartier Racing Awards are some of the best racehorses in the world,” said Harry Herbert, Cartier’s Racing Consultant. “The revealing of the eight equine Cartier Racing Awards is eagerly awaited on the evening of Tuesday, November 14, while the Cartier/The Daily Telegraph Award of Merit is going to a very special person.”
The 27th annual Cartier Racing Awards will take place Tuesday, November 14, at the Dorchester Hotel in London, England.
