Mucho Macho Man and Uncaptured both celebrated their first winners as sires on Thursday.
Mucho Amor made her career debut in the 4TH race at Keeneland for trainer Wesley Ward and just held for the neck victory under jockey Joel Rosario. The dark bay juvenile miss ran 4 1/2 furlongs over the fast main track in :52 to give sire Mucho Macho Man his first winner.
The stallion is best known for capturing the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs. He racked up seven total stakes wins and 10 stakes placings, including a third-place run in the 2011 Kentucky Derby (G1), during his time on track.
Mucho Macho Man retired with a 25-9-5-6 record and $5,625,410 in career earnings. He currently stands for a $10,000 live foal fee at Adena Springs near Paris, Kentucky.
In the 6TH race at Gulfstream Park, Bye Bye J recorded a three-quarter length victory in her career bow for trainer Ronald Spatz. The juvenile chestnut lass had Miguel Vasquez aboard as she ran 4 1/2 furlongs on the fast dirt in :52.44 to become the first winner by Uncaptured.
While only a juvenile, that Ontario-bred sire was honored as Canada’s Horse of the Year in 2012. Uncaptured earned that accolade, and also took home the Sovereign Award as Canada’s champion two-year-old male, after winning the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) and Iroquois Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs and three stakes contests at Woodbine.
As a sophomore, the dark bay also triumphed in the Prince of Wales Stakes, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. He retired with an 18-7-3-3 scorecard having banked $1,065,147 lifetime.
Uncaptured currently stands for a $6,000 live foal fee at Ocala Stud near Ocala, Florida.
